Figured I’d check here first.  Looking for round to square butt grips for my new to me M14 DR.  I’m also not sure what is legal or not for DR. I’d love to cover the back strap and wood or rubber.

Thanks

Joe

I do have a couple of choices. I have 5 sets but only two pair not on a 14 right now. I suppose it depends on what you want. Both sets are DR legal. What do you have to trade? Very Happy

Other choices for you if those two don't work. You can buy 2 of these from Altamont or Nills. I bought the third pair. The ones on the left from a forum member. I wish I knew who made them.

The Nills

The game hasn't started and I got bored.

The Davis feels good but it’s for a square butt.  I like the ones with checking all around including the back side.  I was looking at almont as well.  What do I want....I have no idea.  The rubber pacs are slippery on the back strap side and rolls around the bottom.  As far as trades..I’m not sure I have anything you don’t already have..haha

Thanks for explaining what I have Jim.  Never guess where I got the gun from. Lol

Boy those nills  look super comfy!  Is the thumb rest legal for DR?

My first DR match is next weekend..I think some rosin is in order.  I’ll also scrub the pacs to maybe revive the rubber sticky

3 rd picture down ones on the left look nice and grippy.  Are those a conversion?  I like em

Not in any particular order. The Nills are legal. They are the same on both sides. It looks like a thumb rest in the picture but it is actually where the taper starts. Those all checkered grips are neat. They work equally well on RB and SB. Not in answer to a question but Davis grips don't work at all for me. The groove hits the middle of my finger. Here is a neat set I found on fleabay this evening. They might be smooth in back. Also the Pachmayr "Gripper" are softer and easier to hold.

Just another FYI. Remember you heard it here first. If you have an Xframe in your safe. The grips will fit a K frame round butt. I know that sounds counter intuitive. You would think at least N frame but K frame it is. The Nills on the X frame.

Its's pretty flexible for DR, they just have to be symmetrical. Both sides have to be exactly the same.

The ironic part being the stock grips for the one of the most common DR pistols (M14) are recessed on the left side and not on the right. Perfectly fine

But when buying new grips male sure they're the same left to right and don't have a flared base.

What the heck is meant by a "flared base"?  The ISSF at least provides images in their rule book for International competition pistols.

Are we only supposed to use boot or combat grips?

That's my read on it.  The rulebook is pretty restrictive; I had to send one of Hogue's big fancy stocks back to them because it didn't meet muster.

"(f) The following are not allowed.  Trigger shoes, compensators of type or design; any external trigger stop device; any internal trigger stop not originally installed by the factory as original equipment in stock revolvers of the same make and model; tape on the stocks or stocks flared at the base."
