Is normal? Magazine Issue
I ran across this twice this week. One was on a Kimber 1911 45 and the other was on a Walther XEsse 22 pistol. When I tried to install the magazine you have to push the magazine release button to install the magazine. I worked on military weapons in Vietnam and all our guys had to due was slide the magazine right in a 1911. No button to push. If they had to push a button to install the magazine it would be dangerous to our Soldiers. This would also be a huge handicap when your in a steel chellenge event being timed. My Smith model 41, My Sig P320 X Five Legion and my New CZ Shadow 2 AccuShadow you only need to slide magazine in without pushing a button.

In my opinion you should always deprees the magazine release button to insert the magazine on your Bullseye pistol. Not doing so causes undue wear on on your pistol and your magazines. I sure others may/will have a different opinion. Just my 2 cents.

Under normal operation you SHOULD NOT have to depress the mag release to insert a magazine!

On one of my 1911's I had a similar problem. A little polishing of the bottom of the mag release and it was never a problem again. If I recall there was a little flat spot that hung up.

Vietnam-era tolerances were pretty loose for rack grade service pistols.
Every once in a while I'll get a magazine that doesn't want to go all the way into the magazine well straight away. A few touches with a file and a buffing wheel to change the angle and smooth things out fixes me right up.
