pardini "sledg" optic mount
Has anyone used the mount sold by Pardini intended to be mounted out at the front
of the barrel shroud.
the position seems like it could greatly effect the balance of the pistol.
This I assume would be intended to be used with a 22LR/32Cal common frame and
two uppers with dedicated optic for each thus eliminating adjustment from rim to centerfire.
How much adjustment is required if a common optic is used on a frame mount?
enough to warrant the $ for mounts and optics?
Thanks, G

Re: pardini "sledg" optic mount
Ok I used to use one Dot mounted on the rail towards the rear of th pistol with the Pardini ring and it worked perfectly. I used green sharpie for the dope setting for 22 and red for 32. Yes there is more than just a few clicks apart. The one pic is my friend Steve and he uses the old Larry’s Gun Pardini Mount and has one on each of his Sp and Hp. Zero adjustments are need from one to the other. You use the existing holes so there is no drilling and tapping. My pistol is the 6 inch bullseye model with the rail out on the barrel shroud. I now use that and I have 1 for each and zero adjustment is needed changing calibers. The weight for me is perfect and I can pic up the target twice as fast in Timed and Rapid. It might look funny but try to out shoot me before saying anything! Lol!
If you decide to buy the rail DONT GET IT FROM PARDINI!!!!
Jim Henderson will say he sold everything from Larry’s to Pardini but trust me he has some because he told me! 90 from Jim 180 from Pardini for the exact same Larry’s Gun Mount!

Re: pardini "sledg" optic mount
Pardini sells a wide ring to mount the dot directly to the barrel. It allows the optic to be mounted lower than using the Larry mount. By using a second Matchdot I don't need to worry about making adjustments between calibers. Changing calibers is generally easy, unless the short 32 caliber guide pin flings itself to parts unknown during a state championship.

That’s what I thought. That’s why your scope is a little farther back than mine. Mine is a 6

Pardini "sledge"
I am glad to get the reply's from real world users.
I do understand the balance effects I think.
When you move weight forward this will cut down muzzle flip from the shot.
I supposed that the weights in the nose of the pistol could be removed and the balance could be
adjusted that way.
With my old SPE I used to stick a 1.5 Dia. pot magnet out on the barrel shroud
to add weight there and felt it helped me in slow fire and sustained fire also.
I hope and am sure someone will pick up where Larry left off.
Thanks,G

Re: pardini "sledg" optic mount
Thanks they're V1. After I work a load for my barrel I'm inclined to cut some angle in the mount to eliminate the 25 to 50yd sight adjustment if needed. After sighting in at 50yd with white box Winchester it is a few inches high at 25yd.

Ebay. I think it was spar material for RC airplanes

Something like this listing? Can you please share what diameter OD and how you affixed them?

Re: pardini "sledg" optic mount
28mm ID x 30mm OD. Cut with a Dremel wheel. Wrap masking tape around the CF tubing to get a perfect line. Be careful, the slivers of carbon are ultra-sharp. Sand the ends smooth carefully.
Use green loctite - clamp the pair of tubes longitudinally overnight. Easy to get off with a gently applied heat gun (hair dryer) if needed. I found that they were fine on a red dot mounted on the slide of a 45.
YMMV
This is a pair I did for a SIG red dot, but the diameter and attachment method was identical (I had an Aimpoint H1 at the time and made tubes for it from the same material - can't find the photo).

Thank you so much for great instructions! So are the tubes 3M wrapped or whole carbon fiber? Do you still have ebay link or seller for reference?

Actually, the mount shown in post #2, came from Larry's. unfortunately, he stopped making that version a couple of years before he passed. I have one and love it, but when I tried to get a second one they were no longer available.
