10m air pistol? Empty 10m air pistol?

Post by losi b on Sat Mar 28, 2020 9:07 pm

A friend of mine is considering searching for a 10-m air pistol for a home range. I thought I'd put a search post out there to see what's available currently.  What do y'all have to sell?

for a home range?
I'd opt for an Alfa Proj air pistol. around $800
or,
Find the taiwan copy, the Victor, for around $300

both are pcp and accurate.

I have a nice Walther LP300XT medium right hand grip for sale on Target talk for $650.  I can send you more pictures if you'd like.

For a beginner, a Daisy 747 or 777 would be just fine.

If you want to spend some $$, a Steyr LP50 is great.

Anyone recommend a decent air pistol that would be quiet enough to use indoors. I live in an apartment, so I dont have the benefit of using the basement like I would have done at home.
Thanks

Id say the sound of the trap is more what you would need to worry about. I use a box filled with rubber mulch.  Very quiet, people upstairs in the same house cannot hear it

Air Venturi V10 match is a pretty inexpensive, quiet, low powered, accurate, decent trigger, decent grip for getting started.  Used to be imported by Gamo as the Compact.  I've been using mine off and on for 25 years with zero issues.  Under $300.

I tried the Air Venturi V10 recently, I agree with JimTMich that it has a lot of good features at such a low price (the rear sight even has adjustable notch width), but the grip did not quite fit, the effort of re-cocking it after every shot got to be a bit of a bore in an actual match and I felt that it would not really help me as a training tool.

So I eventually decided to stump up for a Steyr LP50 (there are no new ones in stock anywhere in USA right now, but luckily an older one came up for sale on this forum). Not quite got everything set up for it yet, so cannot give any useful opinions.

As for the Alfa Proj and Victor mentioned by Jim Chapman, yes, I found a CO2 version branded "Wolf" in a shopping mall in Bangkok specialising in Airsoft and replicas (Airsoft war games are very popular there - and foreigners are not permitted to own real firearms in Thailand). Cost about $250 there, but I've not seen them as cheap as that in USA.

I believe that they are all made by Listone Industries in Taiwan and marketed through various channels.
They are certainly very accurate, with a decent trigger and sights, rail for optics, etc. But the standard plastic or wood grips are not comfortable. I carved up my own out of slabs of modelling Balsa and they work OK. The gas tank is very bulbous (CO2 in my case) and that limits the grip shape that can be achieved. I found that the standard trigger, whilst quite nicely made and adjustable, was too far forward for my shortish fingers and so I made an Aluminum replacement which easily mounted on the main trigger bar, much better (sorry I don't have a clear photo with me). I tried a reflex red dot on the standard groove provided on the barrel shroud, but preferred to have it mounted further back on a little mount I made which screws on in place of the OEM rear sight.10m air pistol? If you can find one, the Steyr LP1 (single shot), or LP5 (5 shot semi auto), are very accurate, easy to use, and cheap to shoot.  They both are CO2 operated, and a 20 pound tank lasts FOREVER.  A siphon feed tank and a freezer to precool the cylinders are all you need to refill the the gun.

There was not on the Gamo Compact.  And to make matters worse, the "slide" is made of plastic of some sort.  I did drill and tap mine and mount some wever rail on there, but it felt awkward as the slide is also the cocking arm.... so I took it off.

I bought one of the listones for my nephew along with their Lap-1 which is a copy of an ap20 walther. The listone victor is a dead copy of the alpha project pistol. I actually found some alpha grips in Spain and fitted them to the Victor..very minor fitting. I ordered.both directly from Listone. Both pistols have been perfect

And Barryhill has the patterns for 3D printing proper grips for the Victor/Alpha Proj guns.
