Ranges closed, all brass cleaned, good stock of loaded ammo for my RO and 986 5"....what can I do next?   Buy a 1968 Austin-Healy Sprite MK IV in excellent condition and 37K original miles.  No fool like an old fool.

Excellent idea, this cruising weather has been amazing and roads are more clear than normal. Plus gas is cheap... I wish i could be out driving my 1967 Plymouth but motor is apart in a machine shop thats closed for the pandemic. Pity, there's never been a better time to drive a car that gets 11 mpg.

I have the good fortune that my club's outdoor range is open and even before C 19 I never had to stand next to anyone at the three ports on the 50 Yard line to practice before C 19 on the 50 & 25 yard pistol range and at most two other folks on the 8 lines to my right that are 25 yards, These days almost everyone sets up shop at the separate 50 ft. and  7 yard combat range. That's built in social distancing!

This is at a club with 800 members and it's somewhat sad that I only run into folks who have the skill and discipline to shoot at 50 yards when I travel to shoot at BE matches. In the old days this range was busy with guys practicing for BE matches, they had a BE team and 20 ports on this range that had the full LL and SL turning targets. 10 years ago they simply pared the range down to 3 LL ports and 8 SL ports and took out the turning targets.

That said not being able to shoot matches has allowed me to reload enough ammo be well ahead of the practice demand  for a long time. But still what to do?

Now I'm going to fire up my Bridgeport mill and commit a sin! I'm going to make a red dot mount for my Toz 35M and take my aging eyes out of the equation and see what she can really do on the 50 yard line ISSF rules be dammed this is my escape from cabin fever!

I live in Florida, specifically Miami Beach, and we are under orders to stay indoors.  Meanwhile, "the curve" is on the way down, and in two or three weeks, should be down at the bottom.  Florida is thinking of opening up marinas, golf courses, etc., and if all that becomes OK to do, going to my range should be just as safe.  I figure in four weeks I'll be shooting again.  As to matches - I have no idea when that might start up again.

Nicely done! Sounds like fun. Hope to get out on the Ducati this Sunday as the weather is finally getting nice.

Well, I was just about to go and buy me a business jet and a super yacht, because I was bored, but then a package came from Midsouth with a bag of once fired 65CM brass and four pounds of H4350, so I got busy again...

Not an empty brass to be found.  Not a dull knife in the house.

I bought a Mint 2001 Camaro.    DlMV is closed.   Can't put it on the road until the end of the shut down.  I can buy insurance, but no plates.

Luckily the local club outdoor range is open.  Its cold right now. It was snowing when I was there yesterday.   Still better than nothing.  All matches cancelled and all other ranges closed.  It won't be long now.....

Take care

My hot rod is a souped up electric bicycle.  It only does a bit over 40, but it gets there before you can count to three.  The acceleration is insane and 40+ mph feels dangerous as hell on a bicycle.  Good times.

73 Corvette restored, 2001 Corvette Z06. Our home range is open, and we're shooting 1 to 2 days per week (weather permitting)

Maybe, but when I'm 79 years old (like the OP) I'll probably be on the back deck, wearing only a "Big Gulp" cup on a string and drinking the last of my bourbon.

Fair enough. My personal car project is on hold until work space conditions improve. Working on a vehicle in a driveway is a struggle.

Try rebuilding a motorcycle frame up in a 6'x6' food cellar of a 150 year old house. That was fun!

I built a motorcycle in the spare room before we had kids. I lost some small parts i the thick carpet, but hey I was barefoot and had a drink in hand so no complaints.

Ooh. Love those two strokes. What manufacturer/model? Mine was an old DS7. Fun little bike.

My last car project was a 1967 Mustang Fastback.  A copy of Eleanor from Fast and furious.   351 W, automatic, 4 wheel power disc brakes, Air conditioning, Power rack and pinion steering, tilt wheel, digital dash, rewired.  Looks exactly like the real thing.    Down to bare frame and  started out with collision repair.   Took a year and a half.  This was a customers car.  I did not do any body work.  Some of the interior.  This car paid for my Stainless Gold cup national match.  I had Doug install a Kart NM barrel, mill it for an SRO and accurails.

David R, funny you should mention a 67 Mustang.  I just built one myself and finished it yesterday.  If anyone wants to trade a Colt Gold Cup for it, then I will take them up on it.
