There's always going to be dealers on GB trying to get absolute top dollar out of their inventory. GB doesn't charge just to list so they pay nothing, pistols can be on there for years.

Re: WTB: Hammerli P240 Still looking
I notice that all of the P240's currently on GB are offered by one vendor. I recognise that vendor, he often has several very nice Euro guns on GB. I'm guessing that he imports them (or works with an importer).

Seems that such guns are relatively available in Europe where the precision pistol sports are in decline (or, like UK, have been banned altogether). A European commercial auction site was mentioned on another thread recently, when I looked at the reserve prices they were markedly lower than USA, but personal direct import is not a practical possibility for most.
Whether it is antiques, classic cars, fine guns or any other collectable - any serious dealer whose "high" prices are questioned will parrot the comment "OK, show me another that is cheaper!". C'est la vie.

Here are the last three that sold. The one @2900 had a 22 kit with it.Bubba Blaster wrote:I showed you, now you show me . Prove it !z4lunch wrote:Thank you but those are way beyond full retail.Bubba Blaster wrote:https://www.gunbroker.com/Semi-Auto-Pistols/search?Keywords=p240

OK you got me . BUT what were you waiting for ? I've never seen p240 go for that cheap I doubt I'll ever see one again. I've owned a P240 for 40 years and have been watching prices . Unlikely you'll see one go for less than $ 2500.

Re: WTB: Hammerli P240 Still looking
Greetings,
Caveat emptor...
I was contacted by a fellow that bought a use P240 wanting a new barrel.
Seems the pistol he bought came complete with a bulge in the barrel.
A good question to ask the seller. "Is there a bulge or a dark ring in the barrel?"
Cheers,
Dave

Re: WTB: Hammerli P240 Still looking
I paid $2,900.00 for mine, which only had 100 documented rounds through it (the original owner seems to be as anal as me about keeping track of round count etc.) Original grips in perfect new condition. I was happy to get it, especially in the condition. It came with a Holosum Red Dot and a Custom mount using the rear sight mounting holes with not modification to the gun.
I am working with Jim at Cardinal Shooting Center (Red Feather Outfitters) to get some more magazines for my Benelli MP3S, but did get one for the P240 from him. $232.00 shipped.
I have an importer that found me one at a better price, but not after you added the import duty and commission, not to mention the time.
I have read a lot about the barrel bulge and am going to be extremely careful working up loads, but that issue SEEMS to be more prevalent in the .32 S&W Long WC version.

My advice is be patient (not always easy) and don't pay top dollar, deals are there to be found. In the last year I got a mint 52-2 in box for $1100 and a Hammerli 208S mint in box for $1750. Both about 30% below top dollar. Watch GB, email people offers and watch Simpson LTD, they have overpriced stuff and some deals, got my 208S there.

If you end up thinking about P210's, I have a friend who imports many of them from Europe for resale. I can get you in touch with him. He has some nice ones and gets more in every shipment.
Re: WTB: Hammerli P240 Still looking
I seriously wanted a .32 S&W Long WC and under New York Law can not have one with a magazine forward of the Trigger Guard, so since the only options known to me, were for a Benelli MP3S or a Sig Hammerli P240, I decided to buy both. The price was only a secondary consideration.
I have a couple of S&W Model 52s. Smith made a lot more of those than Benelli or Hammerli made the ones above, so waiting to get one in the right condition and for the right price was a no-brainer.

I just listed a P240 on gunbroker in .38 with the conversion kits to .32 and .22 all with magazines. Also have three .38 magazines for sale if anyone is interested.
