I consider this a fair price under the circumstances. Supply and demand rule.

I guess this is a somewhat under what the gouging market is right now! Primers seem to be going for $90 to $100 per 1K box on Gun Broker listings I have checked. Sad times indeed, but I think most of us learned in the past to keep our stock at 1 to 2 years of supply, at least I did!

I don't know if they are actually getting this, but I saw an Armslist ad in the Chicago area with a $175.00/1000 price tag.  Pretty crazy times.  It will probably get worse closer to the election too.

If the general sentiment is that this is considered price gouging then I will take it down. I am new to reloading and am not aware of what normal pricing is but my impression is that when you can find them primers go for quite a bit more. I don’t want to garner any negative vibes from the post. I just want to sell them for lower than market value to the group if they can use them. Glad to pull them down and sell them somewhere else.

I haven't paid more than $30/1000 in years...
But, I'm patient and am sitting on quite a few, so I can wait out the panic buying.  Eventually reasonable prices will return.

Others might disagree, but I don't consider your pricing too far out of line under current conditions.  I am with Steve in this regard that I personally don't need any and therefor that is more than I would spend.  But if I was short and wanted to keep shooting, $70.00 is probably about as cheap as you'll find them right now.  As a group bullseye shooters are pretty frugal (cheap) so when we paid $30/1000 last time we bought a case, people squawk at a higher price without really thinking about the situation we are in.
Good luck.

I would never feel good about selling components to fellow bullseye shooters at nearly double the MSRP. If I had unneeded supplies I would try to help fellow shooters in need.

As with any commercial transactions (and negotiations):
The valued price the seller sets is his business.
The buyer determines the actual transaction value to him.
Nobody else knows what either party is willing to accept or pay.

My rule of thumb is if the valued price is not what I want to pay, I'll make an offer and/or politely move on.

Sharing with the "needy freely" and a transaction are two different things to me.

If someone says "I got none", that's different than "I need" to me.

On the other hand poor planing is its own reward.  Remember the grasshopper and the ant.

Free market concepts and interactions between buyers and sellers not to be confused with interactions between members of the human communities.  As it comes to the latter, - we didn't stop giving and helping to those in need!  As it comes to former, - I would not be able to say it any better then Cecil did couple of posts above.

I’m inclined to help my circle of associates with what I paid.
You want CCI from the $450 case, or the $250 case?

I always figure when selling components to someone that's completely out, charge what it cost to replace them later. Right now, prices are inflated, they'll return to their original price later. In my area the price of gasoline went up, probably because of the latest hurricane. When the hurricane areas get rebuilt the prices should drop.

Jim

There are a lot of very nice people on the forum, and I have had the pleasure to meet a few in person. But, just because someone is a member of the same forum that doesn't make them my friend. There is a difference between advertising a very high price to basically anyone, and the price offered to a friend or fellow competitor.
Some of the pistols sold through the forum make for a great example. Sometimes people think they have gold in their guns, and they never sell, other guns sell in less than a hour. It's worth exactly what someone will pay.
In 1994 my friend Ernie sold me Federal LR primers, at a reasonable price, allowing me to finish the season. That was the first and last time I ran short on supplies. For HP I was they guy that had whatever was needed on the line to keep a gun running, and was super happy to help fellow competitors.

All the best

There was a time when $30 was highway robbery.  Somehow that became the normal price.  $15 is what they should be charging.
