Chambers Custom Tapered Sleeve Barrel Cone
I was reading older post from one of our Late Master Craftsman Jerry Keefer. He mentioned that he moved to the taper coned setup and it was in his option better. There are a few out there but are there any here in the bullseye community?

I'm currently barreling one now, have one in the near future and have done a couple in the last few years.

Re: Chambers Custom Tapered Sleeve Barrel Cone
Hello ASchlem,
My two most accurate M1911s....one is by Ted Yost (six inches "coned" barrel) and the other is by Jon Eulette (five inches conventional "bushing" barrel). In both cases quality materials and superior workmanship provide the same excellent level of accuracy. Is one setup better than the other? In my opinion, no.

John how do you like them? Are they easier to install?

Re: Chambers Custom Tapered Sleeve Barrel Cone
Barrel fitting with Bushing is less time consuming to fit than Cone. Cone also requires reverse recoil spring cap; reaming/machining.

Re: Chambers Custom Tapered Sleeve Barrel Cone
I've got 2 Chambers guns with cone barrels, it's the best setup IMO.

Reaming guide rod tunnel for reverse guide rod spring cap. Depends on brand.ASchlem wrote:Reaming or lapping the slide?

Re: Chambers Custom Tapered Sleeve Barrel Cone
Having a lathe to set the barrel up in so you can cut the OD to the right size is also an issue with the cone barrels. The cones come around .703 and the slide std. spec. is .700.
I built a 6" 9mm cone gun this past year for fun.. worked out nicely.

I made my own cone barrel for a four inch 9MM. The original barrel was a full diameter heavy that I didn't like. The pistol now shoots great and to point of aim.

Jon’s building me one, i think it will be the heaviest 1911 ever. Like holding a gold brick at arms length. Can’t wait.

Re: Chambers Custom Tapered Sleeve Barrel Cone
the slide extension is currently set screwed on from the bottom... thought was I'd shoot with different weights from aluminium to steel to brass to tungsten to see what I liked best, then do a more permenant attachment... maybe someday I'll get past brass... I should probably get it polished and in for coatings at some point before it starts to rust as well... but it's so fun to shoot I hate to give it up...jglenn21 wrote:Nicely done.. my 6" 9mm was done the same way but is a Kart..

The guy shooting this
made it himself. He was an outstanding shot, but no matter how good your pistol may be, if you do this, the accuracy of your pistol won't make up for the points you lost.

I have built a couple, though not for BE. Neither are finished, but they shoot great.

With all of the weight, do you have to use some crazy heavy loads to get it cycle?10sandxs wrote:SmokinNJokin wrote:Jon’s building me one, i think it will be the heaviest 1911 ever. Like holding a gold brick at arms length. Can’t wait.

Re: Chambers Custom Tapered Sleeve Barrel Cone
They’ll run standard BE loads. Built right guns run. Look at all the problems with typical BE pistols we see that won’t even run 4.0 BE we see on this forum with standard bushing barrels.
