1911 Du Jour?
1911 Du Jour?
A few years back when I first got into Bullseye the SA Range Officer was a favored starter 1911. It served me well after minor trigger work. After a brief hiatus from the sport (and selling most of my guns) I'm getting back into it again and have a need for another 1911. I'm not that good of a shooter so an expensive wad gun would be wasted hardware on me. What is the current recommendation for a 1911 similar to as it was with the Range Officer?

I bought ROs in .45 ACP and 9MM. I sent them to David Sayler for barreling, trigger work, and fitting. They are great.

I would say the same and add that if you know what you are looking at, you can find decent used stuff.
There are some nice previously loved target pistols that will pop up on Commercial Row here. They will be a bit more than a RO, but save you a fair bit on upgrades. We have some good folks on here that I would trust to purchase from in a minute.
Of course, buyer beware, but it is hard to resist a nice .45 when the price is right!
Like this one maybe. https://www.bullseyeforum.net/t16066-reducedclark-long-heavy-slide-45rail-for-optics1200shipping
