Match Ammunition Headspace with 45 ACP
I just finish reamed a chamber to 0.905” headspace. This is typical short dimension for match chamber. It leaves some room for crud to build up or a high primer to still function in the pistol.
With 180 lswc seated to 0.925” from case bottom to shoulder on bullet the distance from the hood to bottom of case was 0.010”.
With factory loaded Zero 185 jhp the same measurement location gave 0.015”.
A case measuring 0.886” gave 0.019”.
So we can see that the shoulder on the lswc and the ogive on the jhp were resting on the lead angle during the measurements.
I just thought I’d share this based on a previous discussion we’ve been having.
