Unless you have over 65 pounds or maybe it is over 70 (memory), you can ship for around $8.75 in a USPS Flat Rate envelope. It if FITS, it ships....is what it says. $50 insurance included and tracking. Many reloading folks are using this. You just mummy wrap the boxes to give them integrity with shipping tape. Some use an overpack cardboard box, taped. You can just put the box or package inside or you can use the envelope and tuck in the corners and wrap it “Christmas Package” style. I have shipped Bullets snd lead and cases and all sorts of heavy and odd shaped.....never a kickback. If you have or open a USPS account, you can print the label from h9me.

It is only about 28 pounds so it can ship in a flat rate box no problem

It will, probably not fit into the cheap ($7). Most likely fit in the $16 or the medium. But if you put it in our own box, then in the envelope, it is $9. You have to go to the post office either way...or use Click and Ship...and print your own.

I have gotten 2000 (4 boxes of 500) 185 JHP shipped to me in one Medium Flat Rate Box a few times so shouldn't be difficult to ship 1000 the same way.

I have that same box of bullets. It easily fits in a medium flat rate box. With room for some primers!

Ain’t the same deal. USPS will ship Bullets or such....but not ammo.
UPS (and maybe FedEx) will ship ammo but only from a “Company” service center or store...NOT a franchised one like in a strip mall. The ammo must be properly packaged and in a sturdy box. UPS will affix an ORM-D label, which they will provide. The standard freight or shipping weight applies with NO surcharge or additional costs.
Primers and Powder can only be shipped from a DOT Certified or Permitted shipper or distributor. FedEx and UPS are NOT, unless they have changed, a Certified DOT Haz Mat Shipper. You, as an individual, unless you have a DOT Training Certificate (annual 2 day refresher) cannot ship. YES, one can purchase or print out the labels and make it LOOK the same. BUT, I think that there is a form to be filled out that protects them from such and gets an individual in a heap of trouble with the Feds....and that be UGLY.
Hope the comment was in jest as the DOT penalties are stiff. As an Ex Director of Environmental, I had to make sure that all my domestic facilities were DOT Trained as we had to “ship” hazardous material and/or wastes. Even though, the drums or containers were picked up by licensed DOT carriers or disposers, they were NOT classified as the shipper. WE WERE....so all my sites had to retrain or certify our shipping folks and our Environmental Coordinators annually, by a qualified service or individual.
That included a competency exam, graded by the instructor and kept on file in special folders as well as their individual personnel files.

Sorry, was just a joke.
Guess if I had to explain that it wasn't a very good one. Thought that guy waving the sign would have made that clear.
At least we keep pushing this to the top.
I'll go back to stalking.

UPS Stores are now allowed to accept ammo. I sent out some ammo yesterday from the local CVS. The case was clearly marked Winchester with a description of the rimfire ammo.
