For sale: as the title says is an autographed hard copy of the book "Hell I Was There."  Unquestionably an autographed copy is going for stupid money but I guess it's what the market supports so here it is: $500.00 includes shipping.

Amazon is showing ex-library copies at $155. If you ever want to see supply and demand in action - just watch Amazon when there is a perceived shortage of something.

The book was a gift given to my father from one of my brothers who attended an appearance by Elmer Keith in 1980.  

Normal people don't waste money securing appraisals or signature authentications for $500 items.  

Clearly an on-line signature comparison could be easily made to satisfy any concern about the authenticity of the signature.

Yes, it was mentioned on castboolits.com but not offered for sale there.

The real issue with authenticity is the book is not signed, just a signed label attached. Not normally what you’d find.
My computer can print all the signature labels.

I have seen many of his books with signatures on decals. I think he had a stroke. So he wrote on decals. 
The highest price I have seen on ebay completed items is $195. With dust jacket, signed and special edition (500 copies).

Again, check abebooks who is a reputable book seller.

Amazon has unsigned copies from $275 to $360.  Based on previous experience I don't trust pricing and vendors on ebay.  If you think the ebay pricing is a bargain go for it.

Look, I just have a book for sale.  I can't help that some of you are just paranoid jackasses.  Send me a PM and ask for as many pictures as you want and you can even specify what you want a pictures of.

I don't think, OP is a scammer.  However I have a simple solution, and if accepted by OP, I will be happy to confirm such for the forum.  I will send PM to OP, and if he's receptive, will confirm his "authenticity".  Don't confuse it with authenticity of the decal with signature.

With that...... stay tuned.

I like how we get a couple scammer accounts and next thing you know we're accusing all new members of being scammers, one hell of a warm welcome. It's a signed item with no COA, buy accordingly. If he were scamming people it would be much easier to "sell" a quality pistol for a cheap price as opposed to a signed book.

I received communications from OP with information I asked for.  Based on this information I can confirm my assumption that OP is NOT as scammer and is in possession of the book he is offering to sell here on this forum. 

Whit that said, it is up to interested parties to decide about value and desire to obtain offered item.

I appreciate Doug's receptiveness to accept my request and respond accordingly.  As such if item is purchased, and my conclusion that OP is not scammer turns to be inaccurate, I will reimburse purchaser for the 100% of the purchase price.

I hope, we can all move on from this point.
