Weigand rear sight for S&W's-
I'm more of a PPC shooter, but, I want to shoot some Bullseye revolver comp.
The NRA has approved the replacement Weigand rear sight blade for s&w revolvers for PPC Distinguished revolver competition.
http://ppc.nra.org/documents/pdf/law/competitions/bulletin13-1.pdf
I'd like to find out if the NRA has also approved it for Bullseye Revolver..
Thanks,
Jim Chapman

When you say "bullseye revolver" I have to make sure what you are talking about.
If you mean use your revolver to shoot a bullseye match in the centerfire stage, I already know for certain that you can use that sight.
If you mean "distinguished revolver" I just double checked: 3.1.4 (b) Sights - Fixed or adjustable rear sights may be used. An adjustable front sight is not allowed.
For distinguished revolver, the revolver must be an essentially factory revolver firing 158gr RN or LSWC bullet from .38spl brass, with stocks that are mirror images left to right with no flare at the butt, and a trigger weight capable of lifting 2.5lbs.

If you mean "distinguished revolver" I just double checked: 3.1.4 (b) Sights - Fixed or adjustable rear sights may be used. An adjustable front sight is not allowed.

The 2.5 lbs. is that single action or double?Rob Kovach wrote:When you say "bullseye revolver" I have to make sure what you are talking about.

This applies to distinguished revolver:
3.1.4 (a) Trigger - Must have single and double action capability and must be capable of lifting 2.5lbs when the revolver is cocked for single action firing. Triggers will be weighed. Any trigger, sold by the manufacturer of the revolver, without modification, may be used.

Although, none of this pertains to my original question.
The replacement of the factory original rear sight leaf with a Weigand replacement rear sight leaf is permitted in NRA PPC Distinguished revolver competition.
Do the NRA Pistol (bullseye) rules for Distinguished revolver, also follow this same logic. The PPC bulletin is clear you are NOT modifying the sight.....

I had been wondering about the same thing for the past couple of weeks after I saw that ppc rule change and took a look at the replacement leaf. Thinking along the lines of hardball rules that would allow one to chance a GI sighted gun to one with an adjustable rear sighted one, I would HOPE it would be ok with DR.james r chapman wrote:Although, none of this pertains to my original question.
