I don't know if thats too high or not.  Hard to find them, looking at the magazine I see little use.  Not making them anymore.

I started shooting Kart Conversion units in the late 1970s and two slides cracked, left side in the front. Kart sold me a slide and had no more when the second one cracked, John Dworak made a exact copy of the Kart unit and I was able to buy a slide from him. John passed away in the last few years so that is the end of spare slides. The Kart slide will crack, I have seen several others through the years.

Tom, how many thousands of rounds do you think it took to crack that slide?

Tom
Where did the slides crack?  Could they be welded up?

I had, I believe, six Karts at one time or another. Never could get one to work reliably......... I think Fred Kart hated me. I called him a lot..............

I like my Nelsons............

The slides cracked left side front. I also owned many Kart units through the years, at least a dozen and put together that many complete guns. If a conversion unit did not work on a receiver it would on another. If I remember Caspian would sell receivers that were seconds at Camp Perry in the late 80s or early 90s and I would buy one or two a year and build another Kart 22. The units were numbered on top of the slide and I remember hearing there was issues between two numbers, I don't remember the numbers it was in the 1980s. The ones that cracked did not have a high round count but I had others that had no problem.
I also owned three Dworak units and built three complete guns, I was very happy with them, shot well and had no issues with them.

Still I wonder if the cracked slides could be welded.  It seems over time, the arms on the slide end up bumping into the shroud.  I make sure I keep the shroud relieved so they don't touch, maybe that prevents/helps the cracking???  I would sure hate to do without my Kart after shooting it all these years, it never misses a beat.
