WTB: Ruger MK IV frame
I have an extra Ruger MK IV upper/barrel and I was thinking that instead of using it as an extra with the 1 frame I've got, that I wouldn't mind having a whole other frame for it. Unfortunately, when I checked the only dealer I know who sells Ruger pistol frames, his price for a frame was the same as or higher than the local prices for the whole gun, brand new. At that rate, I'll just go with my original plan to use it to swap between iron sights and a dot upper on my frame.
But, just in case there is a deal out there: Does anybody have a Ruger MK IV lower half or stripped frame they want to sell at a reasonable price? Ruger .22/45, Ruger Target, Volquartsen, Tandemkross, TK Kraken, etc?

Yeah, Wirthwein’s is the place I was talking about. His price for a takeoff frame from a 22/45 is slightly more than I would pay to buy the whole gun brand new at the shop 500 yards from my house.

I'd check with TandemKross. Last I checked, they had some....

Re: WTB: Ruger MK IV frame
Tandemkross has them, but like Wirthwein's, that want $399.99 (that's the marked down sale price) for the frame of a gun that costs $391.99, new in the box from the local dealer. Kind of takes the point out of buying half a gun. I'd have to think it over if they were charging half that.braxton1 wrote:I'd check with TandemKross. Last I checked, they had some....

Were you able to find one at a reasonable price?

I would just swap the benefit to you is the same exact trigger for scoped and irons.

Yep, looks like that's the way to go. I have already upgraded and adjusted the trigger in my current frame, so no need to do it twice. I'm just amazed at everybody trying to sell a take-off frame for more than the gun costs new.rich.tullo wrote:I would just swap the benefit to you is the same exact trigger for scoped and irons.

Nope. Seems like the standard price for a MK IV frame is "price of the gun plus labor for taking it apart."samtoast wrote:Were you able to find one at a reasonable price?

OP. Have you considered buying all of the individual parts that make up the complete frame direct from Ruger? Just a WAG, but it might be economic.

The internal parts aren't a problem - I'd mostly use Volquartsen anyhow. It's the stripped frame itself that is the issue and I don't think Ruger will sell me one.RoyDean wrote:OP. Finally found one, so I'm no longer searching. Got a new take-off frame and internal parts for $72.
Beats the $400 some dealers are trying to charge.

Just a brief note - I was able to score a bare frame but Tandemkross sells all the internal parts except for the locking block. For that I had to send the incomplete gun to ruger who then put all factory parts in and returned all my parts. They also threw in a bolt which was nice.
