Cleaning an MG2 EVO
I'm getting quite a few FTEs on my MG2 - which I rather suspect means that it's time to do more than just clean the barrel. Interestingly I can't seem to find any information on how far (or even how) to strip and clean it. Anyone got any useful pointers?

Re: Cleaning an MG2 EVO
Scrape the bolt face on the slide with dental pick, etc.
Disassembly:
Remove grips.
Remove barrel/shroud.
Remove top cover; place safety on before removing. Might need to pull trigger when removing, varies from gun to gun.
Remove guide rods and recoil springs.
To remove elevator;
Loosen small set screw in top left side of receiver.
Push cross pin through the receiver either direction. Notice one end (left) has groove in pin for the set screw you loosened/removed.
Ejector and ejector spring are now loose; remove.
Remove elevator; has ball detents that lock into receiver. Just apply pressure until it pops out.
You will see the disconnector is held in the receiver by another pin. Leave in place. Align disconnector hole with elevator hole when reassembling.
You can now clean the hell out of it. Assemble in reverse.

Should the ejector and elevator be removed/cleaned for every cleaning, or can I simply do this every so often?

Doesn’t need removed every time you clean. Consider regular cleaning as field stripping and removing those as complete tear down cleaning.steveg6 wrote:Should the ejector and elevator be removed/cleaned for every cleaning, or can I simply do this every so often?

Slava is a local shooter who uses an MG2. He has a couple videos on the pistol:

Not familiar with this pistol but after purchasing an older Erma ESP85A I learned from the previous owner that the chamber needed to be cleaned with a solvent (hopps #9) dipped brush and spun to remove any fouling. He made me a special brush handle that a bore brush screws onto as opposed to a free spinning bore brush handle. This cleared up any FTEs I was having, especially with the heavily waxy CCI SV.
