Too stubborn? Maybe
I hit the range yesterday and it was a beautiful day on the Oregon coast. I wanted to get in a lot of trigger time so I didn't waste a lot of time changing targets. When is it time to adjust the sights? During timed and rapid fire every bullet I put down range was on call. That 952 is so fun to shoot. X's were X's, 10s were 10s and 7 o'clock 9s were 7 o'clock 9s. So why didn't I change the sights? In hindsight my scores could have been higher if I had adjusted the sights to not hit on call. When you shoot 40 rounds on top of each other you get to see the larger picture. I must be stubborn. I could not bring myself to adjust my sights to shoot a little high and right. I could of. I probably should of. Maybe next time.

Re: Too stubborn? Maybe
This was a recent 50 shot practice session. Shot T/R mixed bag (2 shot, 5 shot) and as a mass just to prevent having to wait for a cease fire to change targets… this load shoots a bit low actually centered just below the 10 ring at 6 o’clock. My goal in this exercise is to be able to keep them all in a 9 ring sized blob. I’m reluctant to adjust the sight as my zero for my competition loads is still where I want it to be…

I followed that 40 shot target with 2 more 40 shot targets. Once again proving to myself that we shoot matches backwards. We should start with 45 and end with 22. Kept them all in the black the first 40. Using different 22s I threw several into the 8 ring. The scores were a tiny bit higher because those two pistols don't seem to drag me down low left. It's probably a recoil and recovery thing. I do tend to fire my 22s a bit fast. That's why we practice I guess.
The next two targets..
Looking at the last two targets both pistols could have used a little tweek. A couple of clicks up for the 106 and a couple left for the 41. Once again showing how stubborn I can be about a little sight change.

If the group isn't centered, adjust the sights. The target is symmetrical, if you over compensate, you are no worse off from the start.

That's why the Army Marksmanship handbook said to make "BOLD" adjustments.chiz1180 wrote:If the group isn't centered, adjust the sights. The target is symmetrical, if you over compensate, you are no worse off from the start.

Without multiple targets overlayed, it just tells you maximum spread
Your center for each target cold be anywhere within that spread.

Made it back to the range today. I adjusted sights after the first 5 rounds in with each pistol. Or should I say revolver. It was wheel gun day. I sort of fired this like Wobbley. Five shot strings but no real hurry. I kept it down to 30 shots per target. I was working on my single action grip but also on making those BOLD adjustments. Of course I picked my 2 worst targets to post. Really

I really love the idea of an all revolver 2700 and plan to do it when i get back into shooting. They are so much fun.

You're right Andrew. Revolvers are lots of fun. It's time to clean these 3. There is something about low loads of bullseye powder and filthy guns. The 14-6 in the middle was hard to hold onto with those pretty Altamont grips. That's why there were no targets posted for 38s. Shot good groups just all over. A group here a group there etc. The Thai grips are going back on.
