Trailside Extractor Empty Trailside Extractor

Post by Larry2520 7/10/2024, 6:04 pm

I have a Hammerli trailside I acquired a long time ago. Great pistol however The extractor on the newer ones and the Exesse is quite different. Mine is like a spring and it broke at one point so I ordered a new one and a spare. I was wondering if anyone knows if my slide will accomodate the new type or if I'd have to replace the slide. Anyone's hep would be appreciated!

Thanks for pointing this out. However My first one broke and I replaced it and have a spare already. The new extractor looks like it's been redesigned to make it more reliable. I'd like to replace the old with the new but I think I'd have to replace the slide also and was looking to see if anyone could tell me that the new won't fit my old slide.

Hard to say, but I kind of doubt it. The old extractor as you say is literally a spring, it's trapped in place by the roll pin. The new style pivots on its pin and has a compression spring at the rear pressing outward on the tail. Perhaps the slot is a similar width and depth, and the pin is at the same point, in which case you might be able to fit it, but the angles are pretty important. Personally I'd leave it as original.
