S&W 25-2 with a red dot?
I had the pleasure of shooting a friend's 25-2. I was completely surprised at how well it shot and felt while shooting it. It is not a collector piece but a shooter. Are there people shooting these with a dot mounted? The factory sights did work well for me, I just have dots on my other BE guns. I was shooting my BE load of Brazos 180 over 4.2 gr. WST. And It was a hoot.

shoots very well, some people use it for the ICF Matches. and it is perfect for that.
the only issues 1. moon clips, 2. weight of a VW beetle. but it is a lot of fun to shoot.

I have seen a few with dots. One is on the wishlist, would be fun for CMP Service Revolver.

I'm six two and 340 lbs... The weight is no problem. I can get used to the moon clips, They give it some character. He does have some auto rim brass to go with it if I buy it.

I had one for a while. Added a Weig-a-Tinney mount and an Aimpoint H1. Shot well, but the N-Frame is too large for my hands - I use DA for TF/RF and the trigger was too much of a stretch to comfortably shoot DA. I expect that there is some clever gunsmith out there who could fix that, but I lost interest and sold it on. I recommend the carbon fiber moon clips, much easier to load and strip than the hard steel clips. EZMOONCLIP.COM
Sorry - I inserted incorrect photo - can't seem to find a photo of the 25-2

Are all those drilled and tapped for the mount?

They are now. The 14-6, the 38 special in the middle came tapped. The 17-4 (22) was purchased tapped (not factory) but I bought it from Roy. I drilled and tapped the 25-2 myself. Not recommended for everyone.Foundryratjim wrote:Are all those drilled and tapped for the mount?

The weig-a-tinny mount just replaced the standard rear sight. Generally no drill/tap needed.

I looked on the Weigand website and the only one I saw one no drill mount. It was for a taurus. I emailed them and asked if it would fit 25-2. They said it wouldn't. They must have quit making one that will.

I'd hate to have holes drilled in it....

All 3 holes are under the rear sight. Not visible from outside if sights back on. If it really really bothers you to see a hole looking inside then have it drilled by someone that is capable of drilling and tapping without going all the way thru. Gunsmith do it all the time.

I took possession of it yesterday. I am going to see how well i can do with the iron sights. I got the original box and owners manual and a custom made cylinder for 45 colt, it's not a collector's item . Its a shooter and i don't think drilling mounting holes will hurt .
