Re: One piece Nelson barrel progress
I currently have the one piece barrel fitted in my Homemade slide. Used Lilja Match chambering reamer. I did plunk test, round dropped in to rim, round did not fall out when barrel turned upside/down. Swinging in hand with slight air Karate Chop fashion round dropped out. Cycled gun by hand, rounds chambered OK. Today I will test fire the gun. The 2 other barrels I'm making for an AA conversion and Adam's Nelson are near completion also, I do each operation on all three before setting-up for next. Being my conversion has a different slot for slide stop pin, the other 2 need that slot cut. My homemade version don't use a barrel mounted ejector so the slot for the ejectors needs to be cut as well as the extractor slot. One lathe is set-up to chamber the barrel using a 6 Jaw chuck with soft jaws, only chambered the Homemade version barrel so as to test the Lilja match chamber. I do have a Bentz reamer if the Lilja has issues but I'm thinking it will be better especially in the Lilja tight bore that is .215" X .2200". Being smaller bore I may need heavier recoil spring, Homemade versions uses 1911 recoil spring.

Re: One piece Nelson barrel progress
Up-Date on progress with my homemade 1911 .22 conversion and Lilja tight bore barrel. After having a problem with not having enough blow back force so it seemed with Lilja Match .22 chamber in tight bore barrel though the gun did function with homemade sleeved barrel with Bentz chamber. I found the problem to be in the mainspring housing. Now that the gun functions after correcting mainspring housing issue I drilled and tapped the barrel for 6-40 flat head screws not the 6-32 use by others and attached a scope mount I purchased from Nelson. I then made a extractor similar to the .22 extractor I got from Caspian I didn't like. Barrel was slotted to accept the extractor and unfired round removed with light finger pressure on the extractor. All I need is a spring for the ejector which I have some since I did have a spring in he Caspian extractor. As soon as I install the spring the conversion will be complete on a dedicated frame. I should be able to start group testing soon to determine how well the Lilja Tight Bore barrel one piece assembly groups.
After testing I purchased all the recommended Rust Blue solutions and see which one works best on the slide I made from S2 tool steel. Bob's Rust Blue didn't work well but did on the frame. I will then do a trigger job on a replacement Hammer/sear and disconnector assembly, the set being used I stole from my Ball gun.
I'll also have to replace the grips that were the Pachmayr American Legend grips, the rubber finger groove portion deteriorated, called Brownells to see if replacement rubber panel was available they were not. The grips were removed from my wad gun after purchasing a printed set. I do have 2 more legend sets still in the package unopened.
