Gunsmith for S&W Model 41
Any suggestions for a good Bullseye style gunsmith for a Model 41?
In or near Phoenix is a bonus.
It's one of the newer ones and the trigger is too light, won't pick up a 2# weight. I moved the little trigger lever and it didn't help. Not sure it actually did anything.
Thanks for any suggestions!

I used KC Crawford for work on my model 46, same working parts as a 41, and he did a great job. He is on this forum. I think he is very busy but you can reach out and see. Good luck.Dr.Bill wrote:Any suggestions for a good Bullseye style gunsmith for a Model 41?

Unfortunately, he said he 'cannot help with this project'.
Doesn't do bullseye guns maybe?

I contacted him quite a while ago, and he said he wasn't taking on any more work.

The best instructions I've found on the 41 are here:
https://guntalk-online.com/Model41maintenance.htm
The little stepped wedge should do something, unless the forward tail of the trigger spring isn't actually resting on top of the wedge.
You can also try asking about this on the S&W forum:

What gwhite said above, the instructions in his first link are what I used to adjust mine. It is an older 41, maybe early 2000. When I got it, the trigger was about 1# 10 oz., I was able to get it up to about 2.5# using the adjustment lever. It should do something, as long is the spring is o.k. and in the proper position.

David Sams works on SW 41 and other bullseye work. He is a retired AMU shooting team armorer.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
It's now on the way to Alex Hamilton. He did a few things for me way back when I was on the AF team.
For a short time, I also had a David Sams Beretta service pistol. You really can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Good choice. Ten Ring or Sams Custom are the only ones I'd let work on a 41. They both can reline the very poor factory barrels and turn them into tack drivers.

Just a trip down memory lane: I think that I used to shoot 2700's with you at Camp Bullis when LTC (retired) Ralph Talbot was running them. Ralph was heavily involved with Alex when Alex was just starting to seriously work on bullseye pistols. Ralph did all the machine rest groups for Alex, back then, too. I had Alex do some work for me. He is talented and honest.Dr.Bill wrote:Thanks for all the suggestions.

I was at Wilford Hall from 1990 to 1999 and made it to many of the matches at Camp Bullis. I think I saw my first coral snake there.
I was even able to beat Ralph a few times, but not often.
