Norma TAC 22 on sale
First topic message reminder :
$299.95 shipped except tax if you live in PA. I took a winger despite reading mixed reviews and ordered a case. https://rivertownmunitions.com/product-category/rimfire/22lr/
Another site, not quite as cheap, actually has different lot numbers to choose from. Seeing as I have no basis to pick lot numbers, I went with the cheapest. https://ravenrocksprecision.com/tac-22-40gr-22-long-rifle-ammo-updating/?sku=AM-R-NORM-TAC22-41RS21-5000

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
Bought a Nelson conversion, so I thought I would try TAC 22 in that. 3 out of 5 rounds jammed half way into the chamber. Had to use my dowel rod to push them back out. 50 rounds of Aguila SV went through after that perfectly.
TAC 22 absolutely does not like me!

Dang that positively sucks... I would lose (what is left of) my mind.
If I hadn't decided to pick up another case, I'd offer to take them off your hands. In fact the next time I shoot I will run a couple boxes from the new shipment which has a different lot number.
Would you mind sharing the Lot Number on your ammo?

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
I am finding that it is a "box by box" issue with my High Standard 107. One box will run fine, and then the next box has constant issues.
I'll post the lot number for the box that wouldn't run in my Nelson in a while when I dig it back out. It was from a freshly opened brick that I bought a year or so ago.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
I have used Norma TAC22 in my Pardini SP, Hämmerli 208S and Marvel conversion without issue. I have gone through about a case and a half. Quite a few shooters at my club have switched to Norma TAC22 with good results. One shooter with a newer Walther found it didn't have quite enough ump to bring the bolt back far enough to pick up the next round. No one at our club has had an issue with duds.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
Okay shot two boxes from the second case that I purchased (100 rounds): 75 in my Marvel conversion and 25 in my HS Victor. Ran flawlessly... too bad my shooting wasnt as up to par LOL. Both the first and second lots were manufactured in mid-2023. Don't have the lot number of the second case, but it was maybe June? 2023.
At $3 per box, delivered, I'm loving this stuff. Hope it works well for others.

Lot # is not printed on the box. It is printed on the pull tab used to open the box.
FYI, the black box TAC-22 (older) is 1100fps and the red box TAC-22 (newer) is 1083 fps.

Black box is excellent, just haven't had any luck with red box.

No other numbers (inked or embossed) anywhere on or inside of the individual boxes or the larger box holding the 500 rounds that I can see.RodJ wrote:Weird, my lot numbers are two numbers followed by two letters then more numbers
Where are you finding that number?

Okay if a rimfire central post is correct, R = 2022. The O or Q is May or July. My cases are summer 2023.DA/SA wrote:OK!

Makes me wonder if there was a plant turnaround (or whatever they call it in that industry) in between years.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
I bought a case and tried some since the local outdoors shop had it 10% off. I first ran it through my Nelson and it would not feed with the plastic Nelson magazines. I use the steel 22 magazines from my Marvel and the ammo runs flawless. just don't have the hold open with the steel mags I have. My High Standard runs and shoots like a dream with this TAC22.
Everything I've shot this ammo in groups just as well as CCI Standard vel.

Welp, after running through about 4 bricks I finally got an honest to God dud. Good primer strike in my HS Victor. It fired when I rechambered it. This has been great practice ammo in my Ruger Mk ii, Victor, and Marvel.
Yesterday I found it on sale again for $323 for a case, delivered… I could not help myself… FedEx is supposed to deliver it tomorrow. ammunitionstore.com
Buen provecho!

Tac 22 has been very good in my 208s. My only complaint is how greasy they are, oiling up the fingers while reloading. Accuracy and reliability have been fine, and they have slightly more felt recoil than Aguila std velocity.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
JH, good to know and glad to hear that. It's regularly available cheaper than Aguila or CCI SV and virtually no hiccups.
I have been fantasizing about a 208 or 215 but i gotta get above marksman first. I think I'm finally shooting at a SS level during range practice. But as someone said "In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not." Hope to shoot well in a coming match to test my mettle.

Is CCI Standard Velocity that bad, now? I see that I can buy it for around $3.21/ box at AmmoSeek.

Re: Norma TAC 22 on sale
Mike, I don’t know what people’s experience has been lately but a year or so ago, a buddy had a terrible batch of CCI SV. I thought there was something wrong with his gun, but nope. He got a lot of ball and dummy practice. I encouraged him to call CCI but he didn’t.
It would be great to find out recent experience and would love to learn that CCI is good to go. I had a topic post asking a while back, can’t recall that there was a consensus.

I have two bricks from PSA.
I used to shoot TAC-22. Had a brick that gummed up everything I shot it in. Rounds would not chamber, some were stuck after firing. The extractor would deform rim and slip off. Put a skewer in range bag to push the casings out.
Read to shoot in a bolt action rifle and they did it there too.
But they were a little hotter than CCI-SV. AND AT LEAST AS ACCURATE. From a couple Xesse’s, a HS, Buckmark, M41, and a Witness conversion. But the wax gummed all of them up. Even had to clean the mags to get rid of the sticky stuff coating.
I had five bricks left and sold them locally. At 1980’s pricing.
But trying to get my nerve up to try the 3.00 a box from PSA. If the same, mags could use a scrubbing anyway.
Hope they shoot like the first couple of bricks I tried.
Guns are all running great now. Will definitely only shoot TAC-22 in one gun until sure they run like CCI SV.

TicToc, if you shoot the monthly 2700 match in Austin, I will probably be at the December match. You can try a box or two of mine.
Of course, as I offer that, I remember that I did get a dud during the November match… that sucked. It was the second or maybe third, I think, out of five bricks and the first one to happen in a match. They all went bang the second time and they all happened in my HS Victor. so maybe time for a good cleaning and chamber brush. Might also need a new recoil spring… I’ve shot several thousand rounds since the last spring change.
