38 Special Bullseye loads, HP38, Tightgroup or???
First topic message reminder :
For 25/50 yards Bullseye shooting in 38 special what would be the better powder choice?
Can't find Bullseye, Unique or the other Alliant powders, VV is hens teeth in my area- it's mostly Hodgdon/IMR.
Thoughts?

I find it to be an even better load that what i obtained with WST, and those loads were quite nice.
For reference, I only shoot at apx 15 yards at an indoor range.
I'm getting some really nice and small groups from my old Colt revolver with this powder.
I'm loading 148gn LHBWC, Winchester SPP, 3.8 grains of CFE-P. The projectile is seated flush with a slight taper.
It's feels like a Goldilocks load for me...not too soft, not too powerful.
I don't have a chronograph.
hope this helps.
will it hit paper at 50 yards? let us know.

i wish i could, i'm unable to drive....perhaps in the future i might be able to again. I have 2 wonderful friends who drive me to our local indoor range where we can shoot only up to apx 20 yards....though i generally shoot at 15 yards.
When i review the Hodgdon Website for load data they note:
3.5grains of CFE-P for the 148 grain HBWC yields 849ft/sec...
while at the top of their recommended range 3.9 grains of CFE-P for the same projectile yields 914ft/sec
so i would imagine the 3.8 grain load should suffice at longer ranges
