At our last match of the season, I dropped one of my two 208s magazines and broke the magazine baseplate.  I now have two metal baseplates on order from Red Feather.  One of my fellow shooters said that the magazine spring must be inserted with a specific orientation.  I've studied the spring, and I see no noticeable difference between the ends of the spring.  If the spring must be oriented a specific way, please enlighten me about what to look for.  Diagrams or pictures would be helpful if you have them.

Thanks in advance,

I have a dozen magazines between my 2 208s pistols. I have re-sprung them all and paid absolutely no attention to the spring orientation. They all run 100%

I will say that the side-to-side orientation does matter.  Make sure the last bend of the spring pushes up at the front of the magazine follower.Hammerli 208s Parts/Magazines 20241013
