light 9mm load Empty light 9mm load

Post by tonyd12 Sat Nov 09, 2024 10:26 am

I am using a sig 210 American. I have a bunch of 147 gr heads.I tried 2.9 and 2.8 grains of hp 38 and I find the load a bit snappy at 2.9 but the gun does not function reliabity at 2.8.
Ant help would be appreciated.

For 147s I use 3.4 grains of Sport Pistol; soft and accurate.

I use 3.1/3.2 grains of VV N320.  Depending on how the pistol functions you might drop it a.1 or 2.  It burn cleans and recoil is soft.  I have read about loading N310 but haven’t tried it yet.

I load 4.0 WSF with 147 FMJ and 147 XTP’s. Runs well in both of my RRA’s.

I used to own a Sig P210A. I found an accurate load to be 3.2 gr Alliant e^3, Fed 100 primer, Starline brass, 147 XTP, 1.100" COAL, no crimp just re-size the top ~0.1" of the case. That produced about 925 fps MV and was a consistent round with the factory guide rod/spring combo. When my (factory) guide rod broke, I re-designed it for alternate spring choices.

I have a couple of soft 9mm loads. You won't be able to find the 130gr swc (Magnus) or the 115gr swc (Penn) they became unobtainium  in the last couple of years. The 147gr LFP are still available at several different outlets and are all pretty much the same. I set my OAL the same for my LFP loads as my 147gr XTP loads (1.104) . The 147 gr lead loads shoot decent groups with a lighter recoil. My test pistol apparently didn't like me switching mags or possibly changing my grip. It was a long time ago relatively speaking. Full disclosure I don't load them anymore for 9mm. The only thing I load for 9mm is 115gr XTP (HAP, ZERO, NOS) and 6.4gr of power pistol. The little increase in recoil is a fair trade for accuracy.light 9mm load Dscf0711
