Ultradot 25mm Gen 1 problems
We are in the middle of our winter bullseye league and I don't want to send in my two Ultradots (slide mounted Marvel & Jackie Best 1911) for repair just now and am hoping others may have ideas/repairs I can try over the upcoming 3 week Christmas break. The problem is that setting 4 & 5, which are my ideal settings, turn off?go out randomly - most irritating in sustained fire. I have replaced batteries, cleaned contacts but is there anything else I can try. I even read to twist clockwise several times, but this hasn't helped. I do see a split ring retaining internals but have not ventured deeper yet. BTW - I joined many years ago but am not "active" but read here when I seek good advice..... and so would appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Possibly a loose solder conection.
I recently spoke to Katie at Ultradot regarding a similar issue with an Oakshore. She doesn't work on Oakshores though.
I did send in another 1" Ultradot that was not under warranty for their "Tune up" which includes re-soldering connections, O-ring replacement, cleaning lenses and inspection of internals, and re-charging with Nitrogen, etc. I had it back in less than two weeks from the time it left my desk.
I have had some pretty speedy service from Ultradot.

I have older and newer Ultradots about 1992 through last year, 10 or 12 of them. Even some that I bought that didit work to well.plankie wrote:We are in the middle of our winter bullseye league and I don't want to send in my two Ultradots (slide mounted Marvel & Jackie Best 1911) for repair just now and am hoping others may have ideas/repairs I can try over the upcoming 3 week Christmas break. I have used spray contact cleaner. Use a generous amount in the case let sit for a moment and blow out. Has always work for me.
Won't fix broken parts however most electronic problems are caused by bad conductivity from dirty parts.
Old radiomen best tool was a clean pencil eraser for cleaning contacts.

One of the half dozen pieces of masking tape on the inside of my box reads “UD #5 no work.” . I’ll use it until I lose #3-#7. Welcome to Bullseye.

Rob22 -- thanks for the tip on spraying with electric contact cleaner. I did so and ran both last Thursday's match on setting #4 with no problems with one and only one dot-out alibi on the other. I re-sprayed very liberally, blew dried thoroughly and re=assembled. Yesterday I was able to put 60rds through without so much of a blink off. I am encouraged,,,, thanks for the tip!

I'd be happy to loan you the Ultradot from my Ruger for the rest of the season.

Thanks for sharing that. I had one ultradot that would not stay on, when set on #1. That's all I need on our indoor range. Sprayed it, per the instructions on the can. Works great.
