38 Short Colt
I have a 1000 plus 38 Starline Short Colt Brass. Does anyone use this to shoot Bullseye with? It is about the same size as a 9mm, I was just wondering if it was a good round to load with 148 HBWC?

I've tried one load with a Speer 148 gr. HBWCs loaded to 1.070" OAL. With 2.2 gr. Bullseye it produced 630 fps from a 4.0" barrel and a 3" group at 25 yards. That's about typical of my results with Speer bullets in regular 38 Special loads, which is one of the least accurate HBWC bullets I've run through my guns. I've not tried other brands of HBWCs from the 38 Short Colt brass.

Re: 38 Short Colt
i have a friend who used to shot idpa and shot the short colts. he did his testing a 50 yds and was getting 2in accuracy with his load out of a revolver which may have been worked on i don't recall. don't remember the load exactly but i'm sure it was probably not to character for the original. bob loved him some 2400 and it wouldn't surprise me if that was what he was loading.
don't know why anyone tests at 25 yards come to think of it.

Standard test distance for handguns. Like 100 yards for rifles.

I test at 25. If it doesn’t shoot at 25, it won’t shoot at 50.
