Beretta 92 family of pistols
Volumes have been written about the Beretta 92 and the multitude of variants available over the years. So many veterans had their first exposure to pistol shooting on the platform, just bringing up the pros and cons at the LGS tends to bring out some emotions.
I've never owned a 92, and have only shot one, once. I've seen a few videos the show members of the AMU shooting the platform.
Is the platform truly able to put 10 rounds on a snuff can at 50m? Is that accuracy expectation a reality from a COTS Beretta pistol?

"Super" Dave Harrington did exceptionally well with one shooting USPSA Production class.

I wouldn’t say that “any” M9 pistol is capable of 3 inch accuracy. Some are but there a lots that aren’t.
That said, a 3 inch pistol isn’t great either. A 3 inch pistol needs 10 nearly perfect center breaks to get a clean at 50. If it was a 2 inch pistol, you’ll have some leeway about sight picture.

No doubt there is quite a bit of variation between models and NIB pistols. The platform interests me because of the Basic Accuracy Potential and decent aftermarket support. Admittedly, there are not a lot of smiths advertising model 92 work. I see that Jarvis will fit a 6" barrel for a nominal fee, and that there are a few triggers and associated FCG "match" parts available.Wobbley wrote:I wouldn’t say that “any” M9 pistol is capable of 3 inch accuracy. I get sticker shocked looking at RRA, LB, and Nighthawk on GB.....

Re: Beretta 92 family of pistols
My stock 92A1 ransom rested at like 2.75" with ball ammo at 50 yards. 2.5" with atlanta arms 115 gr. From the hand, my first group after switching to adjustable sights was 4.25" at 50 yards with ball ammo.
Jon Shue got the barrel hood welded up and I installed a bushing and now it locks up ridiculously tight in the slide. I wonder what it would ransom rest at now.
Correct me if I'm wrong but all of the service pistol records are held by Jim Henderson's accurized Beretta 92/M9.
