High Standard 107 Supermatic Citation with a LSP Barrel is good starter gun
Used gun $500. Barrel $200 . Red Dot $200. I only use 2 magazines.
Used pistol box was $40 and I had to make a scope mount for it.
Been shooting Bullseye 7 years now with it.
I found it likes Aguila SV and fortunately bought 4 cases of it before COVID and find it consistent. Aguila Pistol Match was no better and 2x the $.
Glasses with progressive lenses: I've found anti glare coating helps reduce red dot distortion and keeping the glasses clean before getting on the line. Recently got new lenses as old ones had too many scratches that affected clarity of the red dot. Big difference and glasses are part of your equipment.
I've been able to maintain a 280 average for a couple years now with this set up.
Last night I had a good night - 288. Wednesday night different league - 281. Last Friday after 1.5 hour drive - 278.
I've had parts break on my 50 year old gun, but fortunately parts are available.
In my opinion not a bad starter gun for a reasonable price.

Did you go with the steel bull barrel or the Aluma-Lite?

I started shooting bullseye around 1988 with a 106 Citation my dad won at the 1966 USCG Sectional matches. I shot it up until about 1999 in the New London Pistol League. I still have that pistol, of course.
I've shot a fair number of cleans with my 107 Victor, including a 9x. The HS trigger is GREAT from the factory and gets slight improvement from polishing the trigger bar and the slot it rides in.
Your pistol is an EXCELLENT starter, as well as an excellent advanced competition pistol. You may want to get a couple more magazines from Interarms and get the lips tuned for your pistol in case you drop one of your current magazines and "un-tune" the lips on it.

I want to chime in on the glasses. I am in my late 40s and with every year my eyesight is going down. Computer work is not helping at all. So sometimes I cheap out and go with lower quality lenses to keep costs down. Regular plastic to polymer is a huge step up. Polymer to coated is almost as huge of a step. Not as much, but definitely recognizeable. For anyone with eye sight settled I would highly recommend to spend additional money on coated lenses. For anyone whose sight is still going down I would highly advise at least polymer lenses.
