.22lr SV -MAGTECH
I have been testing ammo in my new X-Esse. If I find a type I haven't tried, I will buy at least 1 box just to see how it prints. I came across MAGTECH and gave it a whirl... I wasn't expecting much, but got plenty. The x-esse likes it as good (or maybe a bit better than) CCI red label. My son ran some through his 17-3 and his Volquartsen Predator with similar results.
Anyone else have the chance to test it?
I can't speak to reliability, as I only bought one 50 round box.
I also have to wonder if I got a box in the middle of a run. There was not a lot # on the small box...

If you are referring to the Magtech Standard Velocity, I purchased a brick to test and was completely disappointed. Power levels across 10 rounds varied between that of mini-mags and super subsonic. I only tried them in my revolver but I am sure there would have been function issues in an autoloader. I plan on shooting them up practicing for the winter smallbore matches.

I have shot a brick of paper packed Magtech and have since bought 5 500 round tars of bulk 22SV. The paper packed was good, the bulk pack is OK but not as good as the paper packed stuff. Even better is the Sellier and Bellot.

It has been very reliable in my Nelson, but dirtier than some other brands.
I have fired about 7000 rounds so far with very few alabies.
That is about as good as it gets for ammo under $300 shipped...Jim

It's great practice ammo but I would never use it in a match. Too many bunny farts.

Good practice ammo but too Many light loads in each box with one gun. The other newer gun seems ok. In SF, I don’t suffer off call shots with the puffers…so far. Risk is malfunctioning in sustained.
Seems better in rifles and pistols with tight bores.
I’m betting that they used a slower powder than the typical 22 SV load, hence the sensitivity.
If it works for you in the manner you wish to use it then it’s perfectly adequate.

It’s the ammo I shot at Perry this year, I had no problems with it either in terms function or accuracy.
One of the things about 22 ammo that can make any brand have issues is how it is handled in shipping/transit. If it is exposed to drops or excessive vibration the priming compounds can come loose of the rim.

That was my experience exactly. I had bought a full case, unfortunately. Ended up letting a Scoutmaster have them for training his scouts. Worked great in bolt actions.shooter1450 wrote:If you are referring to the Magtech Standard Velocity, I purchased a brick to test and was completely disappointed.
