First topic message reminder :

Cleaning the barrel of my S&W 52-2 I noticed that it was heavily leaded only at the beginning of the rifling and impossible to remove even with a copper brush. Can you recommend a product to remove the lead in that part?

I use a mix of Hoppes and Kroil for a long time on any of my pistols that shoot lead. For jacketed bullets i use boretech eliminator along with JB on a VRT pellet. Works extremely well.

If you can see the lead, then you can scrape it out with a sharpened piece of heavy-gauge copper wire.  It takes a while, but it works--and it's not going to damage the bore.  I've used the technique on my 52 as well as my 1911 wad gun.

Whatever your favorite mix of snake oil is, I think "the secret is the soak".  I just did an experiment on cleaning a .22, but I strongly suspect it applies equally to removing lead:

I certainly know that the longer you can let Kroil do its thing, the better.
