Passing of Dave Betts
My friend and shooting buddy Dave Betts has passed. He was well known in the New England bullseye world. A master class shooter who was always there to lend a hand to a new shooter and lend advice to anyone who would listen. Dave attended matches throughout New England, New Yorke, New Hampshire, Maine and Ohio. He was match director for many years at Angle Tree Stone Rod & Gun Club in Attleboro Ma. Latter he was a fixture at Cumberland Beagle Club in Rhode Island. Dave will be missed by all that had the opportunity to know him.
RIP Dave.
RIP Dave.
David Betts was born on December 1, 1944, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and he left us on December 12, 2024. Raised in Plainville, Massachusetts, eventually settling in Rehoboth where he has resided for the past 39 years, David was an adventurous spirit, a talented craftsman, and an ambitious individual. A graduate of King Philip High School, he furthered his education at Wentworth Institute. David's talents were best expressed through his work as a Carpenter Supervisor in the construction industry, a profession he was passionate about for 33 years with the carpenters local 94/330. His expertise was further recognized with a contractor supervisor's license and a building inspector's license, which led to his second career as a building inspector with the Town of North Attleboro and subsequently the town of Swansea, MA.
David's sense of adventure was not just limited to his work. In his younger years, the thrill of the race drew him, and he built a racecar to participate in events at Norwood Arena. He was equally at home on the water, enjoying sailing, and on land, participating in motorcycle enduros and pistol shooting events. He was a proud member of the Cumberland Rod and Gun Club as well as the Manville Rod and Gun Club. David was also a charter member of the King Philip Trail Riders. David was a long-time and devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro, MA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosemarie Betts; his daughter, Holly Delorey and her husband Dan of Rehoboth, MA; Granddaughters, Jamie Duquette and her husband Matthew of Pawtucket, RI., Cassidy Delory of Rehoboth, MA; sister Jane Blair of Rush Valley, UT; brother I. Spencer Betts Jr. of Ascutney, VT; Niece and Goddaughter Heather (Theodore) Crowley of Wrentham, MA.; Sister-in-law, Carol (Smith) Theodore, Janet (Smith) Dean and Linda (Smith) Lariviere; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Constance Betts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, located at 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's name to the A.S.P.C.A.
David's adventurous spirit, his talented hands, and his ambitious heart will be sorely missed. We encourage you to leave memories and upload photos of David to his memorial page. Let's remember him as he lived, full of life and love for his passions, his profession, and the people in his life.

Re: Passing of Dave Betts
Sorry to hear Bill. I can’t place him but I’m sure he was at Angle tree when I competed there in early 2000s

Dave Betts has left the range
I'm sorry to learn that Dave has left the range. He was a good friend to the area's bullseye community and the shooters in it. Over the years, he had run bullseye matches both indoors and outdoors, bullseye practice matches, air pistol matches, and competed in matches, all while mentoring a few new shooters along the way. Dave Betts was a worthy competitor, range officer, and match director. May he rest in peace.
