S/W M-41 Grips
After researching what was available I gave up on buying anything. I was frustrated that the majority of outfits who claim to sell M41 grips do not seem to have a working phone. I guess I am officially old and out of touch.
So I grabbed a suitable piece of wood and removed all of it that was not my idea of M41 grips. I decided to shape them to force me to rotate my hand to get a comfortable grip. The back of the grips is an ellipse. Instead of centering the ellipse down the back strap, I rotated the center line of the ellipse about 1/4". IF I try to grip it my usual way it does not feel correct. It forces me to rotate my hand and there fore my trigger finger goes to a more straight back pull. The hand position is more like the "rotated as if I was throwing a punch" idea.
The distance on the place on the grip where the web of my hand goes to the trigger bow is 2.55" That is right in there with a 1911 with a short trigger.
I only have a spit coat of finish on them now. I may change something. When I am sure I will make them pretty and checker them.
Funny, my wife held the pistol. Her trigger finger extended about 1/2" past the front of the guard. Mine is about even. Our hands are about the same size if you were to trace them on paper. I guess my hand is thicker and more muscular.
Thanks everyone for there input and indulgence.

Re: S/W M-41 Grips
Nice! I wish I had the time/patience/skill to carve the walnut grip blocks of wood that came with my Russia nib TOZ35M.
