On a positive note
If youve followed any of my posts about the troubles I'm haveing with my new Kimber .45 well.......This is something a hole lot more positive. A few wk's back one of the guys that work at the range where I shoot and am a member. Remember me saying how much I'd like to find a good deal on a Pistol Box or as I call them Bullseye Box's .Well about 3 wks ago after I'd finished shooting and walk out of the range for a coffe and B.S. session he from behind the counter produce's a Bullseye Box .......a Pachmeyer Deluxe.....and said look what I found you.....I'm like cool how much.....$25.00 he said ....Well of course I take it....Well the box itself is solid ,BUT my Ruger MKIII with the red dot wont fit so .........Being the vinyl on the outside is worn and kinda starting to peel off I strip the box .....dig the stapes out of the sides and remove the divider thats on the bottom ( no easy task )cut the divider down and reinstall.........So now I D.A. the entire box and spray paint it with gray rattle can primer.......fill any stapple holes with wood puddy DA again and second coat of primer....next I take the box to work and during my lunch break spray the entire thing with Zilotone kinda looks like trunk paint (Grey,Black, White speckles). I cleaned up all the oringinal hardware and the vinyl on the gun tray is still intact so I leave it as is, for Historical Value:lol: .The Pachmeyer medal tags are still in place on the door and tray. Box looks as or better than new.........all that is left is to remount the gun tray runners and maybe make up a shoulder strap...One down side haveing to lower the gun tray due to the red dot on my 5.5 ruger mkIII I dont think a spotting scope is in my future on this box........But I'll have to search but all the scopes ive looked at are pretty big in Dia. so ....fingers crossed....I may remake the tray runners out of poly and add some nice metal corners I spyed at the handy man store when I went lookin for the wood puddy....I'll get some pictures and post my BE kit once complete and if the kimber is behaveing after its rutern from the mother ship it'll be in there as well...finger and toes cross on that one.........

There is a spotting scope brand 'NG' that makes extremely small scopes that should fit your need. Note, I didn't say they were cheap. I have the small Kowa (short and light) but I think diameter wise it isn't a big improvement on other options.
I loved my old Pachmeyer 4-Gun but the difficulties with the dots let me to sell it and go with the Gun-ho. Even so I had to replace the tray with the strong case replacement. I have more than $25 invested though

What you got is a very old box designed before dots were available, i have a nice one myself, they are not suited to today's bullseye but do work nice to house a ball gun or distinguished revolver.

Keith,
You scored a sweet box for cheap! I have a similar box. Here are photos of how I modified it for modern guns: I took out the divider shelf that separates the gun storage from the ammo area. It's great because I can get the ammo out of the front by sliding the gun tray out halfway. I sawed 2 strips off of that shelf and stapled them to make new lower drawer glides. I moved the top glides down the same distance. Works great!

I did the same thing .....I removed the divder cut it down by 2'' and reinstalled .....But I striped off all the vinyl on the box as it was starting to peel off......I wish I could find some of the metal corners but the one I did find where to large.....The only down side to the box is with the modifications I did to fit Dot mounted guns....I dont think a spotting scope has any room to live......
