distinguished loads - Loads for swaged 158g SWC? Empty Loads for swaged 158g SWC?

Post by Russ OR Wed Aug 24, 2016 11:15 pm

I have Bullseye, WST, and TiteGroup.
What's is an accurate load for swaged 158g SWC bullets? Speer or REmington.  - They'll be fired in a 6" S&W 14-4.

Thanks, Russ

Russ,  Have you bought the bullets already? After a lot of testing I gave up on the SWC and went to Magtec 158gr RN. Much better groups at 50. In my 14-6

Best of SWC was 3.5 of Bullseye.

You have probably read this already but some new members may not have seen it. We had quite a discussion about this several years ago. https://www.bullseyeforum.net/t2221-distinguished-revolver-loads-that-don-t-suck?highlight=DR+loads+that+don+t+suck  I think I would try the WST instead of BE. It's a lot cleaner but I didn't have any when doing the tests.

The guy that owned my model 14 before me had good luck with the Remington LSWCs. Try 3.2gr WST

I've used both bullseye and WST, 3.5 gave me great results. Gave a light and quick recoil.

For the heavier 158gr bullets, I have found Green Dot to more accurate than any Bullseye load.  Try 3.6 to 3.8gr.
