Scope base question
Does anyone make a full-length Weaver base for the 1911 pistol that will cover the rear sight dovetail on a Colt Combat Government Model pistol? I have a 5" Clark mount but it leaves a little bit of the dovetail exposed. Purely a cosmestic issue, I know, but it would look better with the dovetail hidden. I think the Combat Government Model may have had a slightly deeper dovetail than the standard Government Model. Maybe there's an economical way to fill the dovetail before installing the base?

Rock River does make a full length rib that goes down further on the side of the slide. I don't know if they have them available for sale yet. I have a few of them on hand. They work perfectly for covering up the low mount Bo-Mar cut on a Range Officer.

I have a Marvel to mount that seems quite long, I can check the actual length.

I believe the Al Marvel mount will cover the dovetail cut out completely.

Re: Scope base question
I measured a Marvel Custom Scope mount today. It is 7.200" long. Only problem you might have is the mounting holes probably will not be the same as yours. Worse yet if one or more holes overlap and be 1/2 hole or so off center.
