I think I'm doing something right
My first bullseye "match" ever in January, I shot a 666 (weird huh?) These matches are held ever 2 weeks and then a NRA match every month at another club. My 3rd time shooting my biweekly I made it to 800 points. By the time my first actual NRA match rolled around last month, I fired a 805 on a windy day. The month following that match, 2 weeks ago, I fired an 826. Huge improvement. Now today at my biweekly match, I fired an 855-22! With 3 99s! This is a huge improvement from where I fired my first bullseye match in January. I think I'm on to something here

Assuming you're talking about a 900 course of fire, 855 is a Master score. 22 Xs is no joke, either. That's solid work.

Highest World Cup finish, 5th; highest Pan Am finish, bronze. Read all about it here.

KBarth, Great Job. Just keep looking for and studying what you're doing right.
John, I can add a guest chapter on "How to Get Into the 2649 Club".... and stay there long enough to get elected Club President, if you'd like some additional material.
Yea, I remember that long haired kid, sleeping on the range with the copperhead snakes at Bristol, VA Regional.

Hey, those snakes became good friends of mine.
2649, ouch. Like Zins and Zurek with their 2679s.
You'll make it.

I need to work on my slow fire, I dropped 35 of my points there. But I shot 3 99s in timed fire and rapid fire. The 100 is still elusive

You rank way up there in the thin air of those very few elite shooters. Was it hard work or fun?john bickar wrote:BE Mike wrote:Me thinks you had a little help along the way, too!

Chris, Bickar's first picnic as a child was likely at Bristol, IN or Canton, OH; during or after a pistol match.

Mike, it's worse than that. My first trip out of the house as a newborn was (naturally) to the McKinley Club.

I actually got that from Chris Johnson's article "Making Master in a year". I had to score Chris Johnson's targets twice at matches back in the early 2000s. I'd rather score a beginner than a High Master. Trying to find ten holes is difficult when all you see is one ragged hole in the X-ring and maybe 2 or 3 tens.
