Colt 38 mid-range magazine
Does anybody know how to remove the follower? I have one mag that needs a deep cleaning.

Remove the base and the spring. Lower the follower to the bottom of the slot cut in the mag and pull the round pin out the enlarged area.
Or at least that's how I remember it

Greetings,
If it is genuine Colt, JGlenn's instructions apply.
If it is an aftermarket magazine, some vendors swage the buttons in place so you cannot take the follower out.
I believe TripleK are one such vendor.
Cheers,
Dave

Triple-K's will disassemble the same as the Colt. I have some of each and they are the same.

No luck yet--it is a Colt marked bottom plate.

Floor plate removed, spring removed. Outside diameter of button is too large to push out either way, and button does not appear to come apart. Guess I'll leave the follower in and clean best I can.

all those mags are pretty old now.. maybe be rusted stuck . perhaps some Kroil on it.
actually the button PULLS out of the slot.. the inside shaft is slightly larger than the normal portion of the slot but smaller than the bottom portion.

You have to position the button at the bottom of the mag at the large hole in the slot once you get the spring and plug out. It has a groove that keeps it in the slot on both sides of the button. Just pull one side or the other out.
