Was thinking about picking up the clamp to use on bench's instead of the triangular weight, saving some transport weight - that gun box can get heavy.  But the dang thing is $30 plus another $16 for shipping.  Any alternative anyone is aware of?  Maybe a Bessey Spring Clamp - although that would require still carrying the heave plate I suppose. Sad.  Can't think of any clamps out there with a mail 1/4 threaded post though.

I guess I could use the excuse to pick up a 20" extension at the same time.

I’m sure an aluminum baseplate with a4" IRWIN QUICK-GRIP bench clamp would work also

The CMM clamp is good but it doesn't work on all the benches I shoot on and there is at least one bench that doesn't have any place to clamp at all.

Even the heavy base won't hold in the wind so I also carry  a 4" IRWIN QUICK-GRIP Handi-Clamp with me.

I mounted my CMM brass catcher to my ammo can. Now I carry my pistol box in one hand, and the ammo can in the other. I shoulder strap carry my chair and I’m all set. Anything else like food or drink I go back to the truck for real quick. Pretty simple.

Good idea on the quick clamp - I will pick one up to have available.  I went ahead and ordered the CMM clamp and a 20" extension adjuster as well.  So between the base plate, cmm clamp, and larger quick-clamp type deal, plus a sand bag or two, I should be covered.  Will just keep it all together in the truck with the 18/24" extension tubes and use as needed.

I *almost* ordered the bucca to try something different but seems every review/post I've read on it or the seller has been sketchy.

The ammo can mount idea has merit as well, although I'm currently using an MTM one (again, weight lol).  But I have several metal 50 cal and SAW can's as well so I could experiment with one of those.  I thought I saw a post with something similar recently with a few pics - I'll see if I can find it again.

EDIT - Here's the post I was referring to..

OK! Tim's idea tripped something in me.
This uses a 3/4"x 3" aluminum extension to get the height I needed.
it allows use of 3/4 electrical clamps found in the hardware store for .30 ea.
I used 10-24 machine screws and lock nuts in the inside.

I'm interested to see how it works out!!
