Problem With S&W M41 Magazine

I have a 1998 S&W model 41 and the original mags work fine.  I just purchased two new mags and one works fine but the other will not release from the pistol when the mag release button is pushed.  I can pry it out with my fingernails.  The problem mag will load rounds into the chamber just fine.  Any ideas on how to fix this are appreciated

You might want to measure the width of your mags that fit and drop free and the one that does not.

If the one that does not drop free is wider than the others then you might have to squeeze it like suggested in the above link. I am surprised this situation exists and would expect more from S&W to have to resort to this.

My gunsmith informs me that this mag is "out-of-spec" and the only fix is to file it down.  Since this is a new purchase I am just going to send it back for a replacement.  Palmetto Arms has excellent customer service and will even pay shipping.

I would not file a 41 magazine.  If PA does not take it back then S&W customer service would be my next choice.
