First topic message reminder :

Found plans of a simple range pistol box on another site (link), however I don't have tools to cut out proper grooves for sturdy joints.  Wondering if I can get away with simply butt joining the plywood by using glue, and maybe some reinforcing brackets on the inside?

Feel it. If it feels good to you just a light scuff would be all you need.

I don't know what your plans for the inside are but I would steer away from make the inside black. A lighter color will make it easier to see in it.

Too late---inside was painted black too :/  Maybe I can line it with something brighter, we'll see.

I would have avoided black all together.
My box ends up sitting out in the sun for extended periods from time to time  (July in Ohio).
I never really understood why black became so popular for bullseye boxes.

Probably less of an issue for me, I only get to shoot indoors around here.

Not much progress because I didn't have time this week.  But got to paint it.  And tonight, decided on a whim that the box will take too much space in the port when I'm shooting, and I don't need it to be that wide.  There goes an inch and a half Smile

Progress report:  it's pretty much done.  It's ugly, but it's functional---just the way I wanted it Smile  Photos below.

Three things left to do:

1) I haven't divided the bottom part yet, because I'm waiting on a small scope that I ordered, and I have to see how far it will fit into the opening.

2) I'll make some targets pocket on the back, still thinking how to do it.

3) Some type of hanger for my ear muffs.  Can't keep them inside, because at my local indoor range I can unlock the box only when I'm at my shooting port, and to get to it I already need my ears on.
