45 ACP vs 45 AR

I just checked the Dillon web page and no mention of shellplate or locater pins for 45 Auto Rim.

I doubt I will use them, but can anyone educate me on The Square Deal B loading 45AR?  Thanks in advance.  bob

I don't believe Dillon ever offered .45 AR in the SDB or conversions for the SDB.  You have to go to the 550 / 650, etc. machines for that one.  I guess you might be able to have someone make a shell plate for .45 AR and use the .45 ACP setup.

I don’t know the SDB conversions specifically but it’s possible a different cartridge shell plate might work. 45 colt would be a guess to start if they offer that. I would think it’s the right size and is for a rimmed cartridge.  If nothing else, maybe it could be modified to work with minimal machining.

well if they don't make the shellplate then they certainly don't make the dies. SDB uses proprietary dies not the regular 7/8".

The dies would be the same.  45 ACP dies will load the Auto Rim.

The .060 thickness of the case rim of the AR, is too thick for the shell holder of the SDB. I have tried to do this, and failed for this reason. There is a shell holder available for the 550-650-750 loaders, which use a different shellholder.

I break out the Lee for the 45AR. All I had to buy was the shell holder because like stated above the ACP dies work great. I only mention this because I have a pile of shell holders. Nothing fit. I had to put out the big bucks (7.00) to make it work.

I made my own she'll plate and use a double blue die lock with the little tabs cut off to space the tool head a little higher to load auto rim on the SDB
