SA Milspec for Service Pistol

Reading Soupy44s post on building a 1911, Jack H mentioned a SA mil-spec to use. Can that slide be use for Service Pistol if an adjustable rear sight is put on it, or does it originally have to be offered with it.

Yes that slide can be used.  Just add the new adjustable rear sight and of course change the front sight to match the rear.

KC, Do the original RO adjustable sights fit into a Mil Spec dovetail ?

No.

LPA makes one of the few adjustable rear sights that fit a gov. Rear sight cut

Any adjustable rear sight will not be a direct fit on the SA slide.  The dovetail on the slide is going to have to be opened up and depending on the sight you may have to drill and tap the slide for the elevation screw on the sight.
