First topic message reminder :

Anyone know of any sources other than the usual (Gunbroker, Gunsinternational, etc) or local gun shop who might have one?  Would appreciate any referrals.   Thanks.  Ed

I finally was able to dig my 52E out. I tried to find out information about the 52E for a quite a while and I’m glad this post came about. This 52 has the E prefix on the serial number. That is all I know about it. I’m hoping to learn more about what it is that makes an E other than just serial number. The receiver is not drilled for a scope as mentioned in an earlier post. It only has the Unertl blocks with a 12X Unertl mounted. Looking for Winchester 52D or 52E - Page 2 Img_1710

Just saw your posting re Win52E. Just quickly looking i believe you have an early model of the E series. The stock is definitely a 52D stock and your comment about the receiver not drilled means a 52D receiver. Winchester transitioned into the 52E by initially using 52D parts. The barrel however at the earlist were 52D but with a circle R on the left side inprint of the Winchester name. The circle R indicated they were in compliance with the new gun laws of 1964 or so. Your rifle probably has a flat muzzle (52D) rather than a deep recess (52E) Your receiver is probably not round front and back, nor drilled for scope mounts like later 52E. Your rifle does have a serial number starting with an E. If you want to discuss further email my name at yahoo dot com. Ed
