Smith and Wesson help

Does anyone know when they changed the K frame from square to round or vice versa on the model 17-5 ?
The gun has not arrived yet or I would know. # AUM0219

17-5 is 1982 era, I think the round butt was 1st used with the short barrels.

Round Butt was an option on the K frame (certain models) from the 50s.  Mostly short barrels because there was some police interest in 6 shot revolvers for detectives.  But there were some made in 4 inch and longer on special order.  The company apparently changed to producing only round butts in the mid-1990s.  So it could be a square butt as it appears to be a mid 1980s gun.
