Help with Lee FCD Empty Help with Lee FCD

Post by joeangi Wed Apr 19, 2023 4:28 pm

I took apart my Lee FCD to clean it before sitting down to do some reloading tonight. The little collet fell out, and I cannot find which direction it should be oriented in the die. One end had a machined relief about 1/8" down and basically no bevel to the edge of the hole. The other end has a nice bevel leading into the hole. Is one side roll, and the other side taper? Which side goes down?

Sorry for the very basic question!

Greetings,

In general, only one end is used.

Take a sized case and see which side it slips into.

The rings are offered in Taper and Roll, based on the caliber. I would guess that 45 is a Taper.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks Dave, I will give it a go. I got tied up this evening and never made it to setting up the dies. I should have stated that it was for .38 special, loading hbwc.

The end with the machined in ring (not bevel) was the only side to accept brass.
Thanks,
Joe
