A nice target! Empty A nice target!

Post by Wobbley 7/2/2023, 11:42 am

Was checking my basic 25 yard zero yesterday before I started my training session.  About 2 years ago I changed my ammo from 200 SWC Brazos to 180 grain SWC Brazos….so there was a reason to check zero AND group … my load was 180 Brazos Coated SWC with 4,3 Bullseye in SPP cases. This was the result.  Sorry for the rotation it was vertical…. But the surprising thing was that the zero didn’t change from 200/4, no adjustments were made.   I’ll take it!

Wowzer that is a nice target. Seems like a lot of BE, is that because of the small primer? How’s the recoil and are you running a pretty tight gun and dot? I think one time before you replied to a comment I posted and mentioned your set up.

Thanks!

It has a dot on a lockup rib.  Recoil is maybe a bit sharper but not so I can tell.  I’m just not tha great at recoil management yet.  The three above the center were the firs rot two and one random in the string.  There are ten shots there, somewhere…. this is a freehand slow fire target using my old ammo shot a while ago just to show the setup.A nice target! I counted 10 despite how hard you made it right there in the x ;-)

Thanks for the info!

Does that 180 grain Brazos punch clean holes often? I’ve shot about 1500 rounds of that stuff and can’t get them to look like that..

What equipment/technique do you use for shooting off of a rest? I've been experimenting a bit. Ransom sells a basic (static) rest...I was considering buying one of these.

My rest was a two handed grip with my right forearm resting on the shooting table.  With the dot I was holding inside “the printed X” on the center.  Looks like the bullets were doing the same!  So no special rest or equipment.  The dot sure helps.

Are you using the flat base or bevel base bullets from Brazos? Have you benched any at 50 yards with the same load to see what they do at the longer distance?

These are 180 which are flat base I believe.  I have not tested them at 50.  Due to a lack of confidence in my 50 yard skills ,….and I usually only test when training…and I do almost all of that at 25 yards…my range has backers and target stands but weekends they tend to frown on people using two.

I use their flat base bullets for practice and local matches. They have proven to shoot better than me and I sure can't argue about their price!
