To answer your question, many of the old boxes may not accommodate scoped guns but you sometimes can move the drawer lower in the box.

When I first started out I built my own box from plywood I had laying around.  Let my daughters pick out the colors from paint I had in the garage.  Took more time than it was worth.

I used to scour ebay for a box but the prices seem high to me to the point that if I really wanted one I would get a new one from bullseye pistol gear.

Now my feeling is that the money spent on a new box will gain me no extra points.

So you will always be able to spot me on the line at Perry.  I will be the guy with a blue and green plywood pistol box.

I have had a few of the old historic Pachmayr boxes--which are the majority of the old ones out there.  I have been able to easily lower the gun tray to accommodate my scoped guns for all of them.  If you are crafty at all, you should be able to do the same and keep the box looking nice.
