New guy equipment questions

Hello everyone,

I am a rifle shooter and would really like to get into bullseye pistol. My goal is to shoot in EIC service pistol and EIC rimfire matches to go distingushed in each. Right now I have a stock Kimber Custom II and a Browning Buckmark Pistol. I would like for my equipment to be mid grade and not hold me back right out of the gate as I will upgrade when I reach the right level.

Are these pistols in this range? Would trigger and barrel upgrades be recommended? If so, what kind? Or should I look to invest in a custom 1911 altogether?

Any new guy advice is recommended. Thank you!

Shoot what you have for now.  When you have built up a skill base you will be able to choose the best equipment for your abilities.

Imho, it's all about the trigger.

your 22 is fine, if the Kimber will group 3'' at 50 yds then it will be fine too.

Browning will need a good trigger job but really very accurate if it has a good trigger. I had one an sold it but really no need to move up. 

I would start by flipping the sear spring that should get the pull down to 3ish. 

Older ones have better triggers and a sear adjustment screw located between the slide and the frame.  

I recently borrowed one for an EIC match it was great, I shot 262 (90 TF and 96 RF) with it which is good for me.
