I bought a well used but in perfect working order Chrony Model F-1 chronograph a couple of months ago. I had no need or want for one - I wasn't even shopping for one. But a member of the range I work at approached me with one for sale at a great price and I said sure why not. So it sat in storage until today.

Just for curiosity I shot my short and long line loads over it. I also shot some Wolf Match Target 22LR and CCI Standard 22LR ammo as well out of a S&W 41. My friend had me try his Walther GSP too for kicks. None of this was for any reason other than pure curiosity.

At least 8 feet or so. Guys at the range said to set up 10 feet away. When finished with everything I ran one shot out of the range manages 62 cal flintlock rifle and the blast bent one of the legs holding up the shades. It was a leg made of coat hanger wire - I presume the original leg either got broke or lost.

Flintlock rifle - 42" swamped barrel - 62 cal - 80 gr of 2Fg Goex - 1300 fps.

A good trick is to use wood dowels for the legs holding up the sun shades. This way if you hit one of the legs it will break and not take the whole crony with it destroying the crony.

+1

A lesson learned the hard way.  Works great till you put that first round right through the box

Testing rifle loads at 10 feet & 100 yards...buddy was annoyed when I wouldn't let him do the long shooting for his gun.

Oh I didn't hit the box. Ever shot worked. The blast alone from the flintlock was enough to knock one shade off one arm and that arm was a coat hanger that ended up bent from the blast. I bent the arm back put it back in place - good as new! Scared the *#%& out of me though.

CCI SV out of my M-41 and 4.0 of BE are right about what I get too in regards to velocity.
